Tri-Tip Chili, No Li Brewhouse, Spokane, WA

A cold and windy Spokane day and Whooo Hooo! This is a spicy, mouth-puckering bowl of chili. In front of me is No Li Brewhouse's Spin Cycle Tri-Tip Chili. This big bowl of chili arrives chock full of tri-tip steak, black beans, tomatoes, and to add heat-jalapeño and Anaheim peppers. The chili also comes with No Li's Amber Ale biscuit. I added a dollop of sour cream to cool down the eating experience.
Tri Tip Chili

Tomatoey thick and meaty, the chili delivered. Generous morsels of tender tri-tip make the meal and give the chili its required heft and weight. The black beans are hefty too, with the tomatoes rewarding the taste buds with flavor and texture. The biscuit was surprisingly good, too.

This is a hot, spicy chili, with lots of kick to it. If you are hungry, the bowl is plenty for a filling meal.If you want a milder meal, I'd suggest ordering the cup instead of the bowl.

And with any spicy meal, you'll want a cold one to cool things down.

For my cold one, I chose No Li's CranCherry Ale. This winter seasonal made from Oregon cranberries and cherries is both sweet and tart to the taste. Refreshingly clean tasting and easy to drink, the CranCherry smooths out the spiciness of the chili and cools down the scoville experience. The CranCherry Ale is also light enough that you can have a second pint without over filling. 'Tis better to fill with chili than the beer.

No Li is located in the same pub site as the previously known Northern Lights Brewing Company. It's the same brewery and ownership, so it you've had a taste of NLBC brews, you'll be familiar with the No Li experience.
