Charcuterie Trio Pizza, Walking Man Brewery, Stevenson, WA

Sitting down for pizza and beer after a Columbia River Gorge hike is a gorge hiker ritual. At the appropriately named Walking Man Brewery, I sit and order the magnificent Charcuterie Trio Pizza. Along with a pint of brew, this 10 inch pizza is more than enough for one hungry hiker. I brought home two slices.

The thin crust Charcuterie Trio is covered with all the gooey goodness of fresh mozzarella that makes this pizza so delectable. Pile on meat, herbs, and a savory tomato sauce and you have a classic. See below.

Biting into the pizza you get the satisfying crunch of the blackened cheese and crispy crust. The mozzarella blended nicely along with the meats and the tomato sauce was savory and slightly sweet to the palate. Tasty and filling, the Charcuterie Trio is well worth a try the next time you are in "the Gorge".

For my brew, I chose the India Session Ale, a really good American style IPA. Taking a quaff of the copper colored beer, the IPA had a clean and citrusy taste to it that went perfectly with the tasty pizza. Hoppiness was balanced to give the beer drinker the authentic Northwest IPA experience that he is accustomed to. As a session beer, drinking a pint or two satisfied without filling.

The outdoor patio with accompanying hop trellis is where you want to sit on a sunny Columbia River day. Get there early because Walking Man fills up fast.
