Pastrami Spiced Salmon Sandwich, Growler's Brew Pub, Gaithersburg, MD

Visiting downtown Gaithersburg, we dropped by for lunch at Growler's Brew Pub. And I have in front of me a fine looking sandwich: The Special of the Day, grilled salmon spiced with pastrami. The salmon comes with cole slaw, lettuce and tomato. I ordered onion rings in lieu of the fries.
Pastrami Spiced Salmon Sandwich
Biting into the grilled salmon released all the juicy sweetness of the meat. Grilled on the outside with pastrami seasoning, the salmon came across with a slight peppery taste, and along with other spices, that is usually not associated with grilled salmon-still good, though. Also, with a gentle char on the outside, the grilling gave the salmon a slight smoky flavor that was pleasing to the taste. All in all, Growler's salmon sandwich was appreciated by this salmon lover.

The onion rings were great too.

Rancher Chicken Sandwich
Geri had the Rancher Chicken Sandwich. The plate arrived with blackened chicken breast with monterey jack cheese, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions. Geri also chose to have the onion rings. She finished the plate.

For our beer, we chose the seasonal Blueberry Wheat. The wheat poured with a slight haze and drank down easy with a light sweetness. The blueberries added a subtle fruit flavor to the wheat background. Eminently drinkable, this beer is a wonderful ale for quaffing or sipping on a steamy Maryland summer day.
