Huevos Rancheros, San Tan Brewing Co., Chandler, AZ

Sunday morning, 10 o'clock, and I'm sitting down for a Brewpub Grub Brunch, Southwest style. In front of me is a magnificent plate of Huevos Rancheros: two eggs poached in a tomato salsa over a corn tortilla with house jalapeƱo, bratwurst hash, black beans with chipotle crema, and pico de gallo. A worthy plate for un hombre con hambre.

Sprinkling the orange wedge over everything, I dig in. Poaching the eggs in the tomato salsa gives new meaning to Huevos Rancheros. The egg yolk and salsa spill delightfully onto the brat hashbrowns, mixing all the savory goodness of poached eggs and salsa onto the potatoes. Add a bit of black beans to mellow out the heat of the salsa. Follow with the pico de gallo for a bite of fresh condiment. Then repeat until done. Mop up everything with swirls of tortilla. 

For my breakfast brew, I chose the Epicenter Amber Ale over a brewed coffee. Beer for breakfast is not unprecedented; they've been drinking it since the Middle Ages. And you can too. For you modern folks who are interested,  Beeradvocate has this to say about Beer for Breakfast. 

The Epicenter proved a good choice for brunch. The ale was light enough to go well with the brat hashbrowns and black beans. Not overly sweet and hoppy, it complemented nicely the eggs and salsa.



San Tan brunch is family friendly, so you can bring the kids. You can bring your honey for just the two of you or go solo like me. The efficient and knowledgeable staff made my brewpub grub experience smooth and easy.
