Mushroom Brie Burger, Oak Creek Brewery and Grill, Sedona, AZ

A drive through the magnificent Red Rock canyon to Sedona brings me to a magnificent brewpub grub burger: the Mushroom Brie Burger. This burger is a hefty one-half pound of char-broiled certified Angus burger, topped with Brie, sauteed mushrooms, onions, arugula and steak sauce. I ordered the cole slaw as my side.

The star of the show is the generous slice of brie on top of the sandwich. The mellow brie melds perfectly with the juicy Angus beef, giving the burger a unique creamy taste and texture that is nothing close to your usual cheeseburger. The sauteed mushrooms and onions add a sweetness to your eating experience. Along with the scrumptious cole slaw, the one-half pound of Angus beef is plenty hefty for a filling, yet sophisticated Sedona lunch.

Forty-Niner Gold Lager

I chose the gold medal winning Forty-Niner Gold Lager for my brew. This naturally carbonated and cold lagered beer drank down easy. Light and with a hint of citrus, the lager cleaned the palate and was a perfect complement to the one-half pound of meat. Also, the 'niner would be a delightful drink by itself while sitting outside on a perfect Sedona afternoon.
