Brewpub Grub: Cheese Cake, River City Brewing Co. Sacramento, CA

Decadent dessert time: Cheese Cake Time. I'm sitting in River City Brewing staring at a generous slice of cheese cake. Along with this delicacy, I peruse a pint of Doppelbock ale.

Cheese Cake

RCBC's cheese cake arrived dripping with (I think) a delicate toffee syrup and a whipped cream topping. Lightly burnt sugar on top rounds out this pretty dessert. Spearing off a small piece and tasting, the cheese cake came across the palate smooth and creamy. This is a desert you will want to savor slowly due to its richness of flavor. The cheese cake would also go well with a nice, rich cup of coffee.

Instead of coffee, I chose RCBC's doppelbock ale. The bock drank down slightly sweet with just a hint of toffee, which melded well with the cheese cake. With a medium body, along with the cheese cake, this afternoon snack was filling and satisfying.

River City Brewing is located in Downtown Plaza. Crowded with easy going California shoppers, the brewpub would be a welcome stop for someone in search for a good brew and a pleasant afternoon snack.
