Margherita Pizza, Grain Station Brew Works, McMinnville, OR

Today is pi day (π day, March 14 or 3.14) and no I didn't have this scrumptious Margherita pizza today, but last week. However, I thought today would be an appropriate day to post. Grain Station's Margherita pizza is a good looking pizza, thin crust New York style. Coming with the three simple ingredients of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil, the pizza was a delight to behold. Browned on the edges, the crust was thin crust crispy.  The mozzarella was slightly blackened and just gooey enough to add a good texture to the crust. Light, crispy, and absolutely tasty, the Margherita satisfied. The secret of a good Margherita is its simplicity and a thin crust. Grain Station understands.

Geri had the Crispy Chicken Salad. She had this to say about her meal:
This salad was  a big meal by itself: lettuce and a host of vegetables sprinkled with feta cheese and accompanied by chunks of white-meat chicken in a slightly spicy breaded coating. The breading was crunchily perfect, with none of the McChicken sogginess that sometimes characterizes such chunks in restaurant sandwiches and salads. The veggie ingredients had a just-picked crispness.

For my brew, I chose the Haystack Gold. Arriving in a deep golden color , the Gold drank down clean with a slight hop feel to it. Refreshing and with a medium body, the Haystack Gold is not a heavy beer and goes well with a moderate lunch-a perfect fit for a pizza. Enjoy.
