Ale House Burger, Pyramid Ale House, Seattle WA

Après baseball, I’m sitting at the bar eating a quick dinner before catching the light rail to the airport on my way home to Vancouver. In front of me is a good looking burger and a cool pint of crystal wheat ale. My sandwich is the Ale House Burger, a healthy serving of grilled meat served on a kaiser bun and topped with melted swiss cheese. Along with the usual fixin’s of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle, the Ale House Burger comes with seasoned fries.

Biting into the sandwich, the kaiser bun had that crusty crunch that regular burger buns do not have. Inside, the bun dutifully soaked up the hamburger juices and flavors, so you get a double sensation of the burger. The melted swiss cheese added a creamy and slightly bitter taste to the meal. In all, a good burger.

For my beer, I chose the gold medal winning Crystal Wheat Ale. The wheat pours slightly turbid in the glass as wheaten beers do. Adding the twist of lemon, the ale drank down smooth and light. The lemon along with the wheat gave the ale a citrus crispness to the quaff, which made the beer a very likeable and refreshing companion to the heavier hamburger and fries. This wheat is easy drinking.

Pyramid Alehouse is located across from the Mariners Safeco Field and a block from the Seahawks and Seattle Sounders Football Club at CenturyLink Field. Pyramid's Beer Garden is open prior to every Mariners, Seahawks and Sounders home game. Enjoy.
