Pork Loin Medallions, Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus, Columbus OH

Continuing our midwest journey, we find ourselves in downtown Columbus at the Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus and I'm looking at a pleasant plate of pork loin medallions. Along with a serving of greens and beans and happy beer drinkers as company, it is a good day in the Buckeye State..

Pork Loin Medallions
Cutting into the medallions, the white meat loin proved juicy and tender. Taking a bite of the pork loin, the juices of the meat melded nicely with the seared outer coating of the loin. Overall, the Elevator's pork loin medallions along with the savory beans and lightly steamed vegetables made for a well balanced and healthy endeavor in pub eating. Filling but not overbearing at all.

For my brew, I chose the Great American Beer Festival award winning Dark Horse Lager. The dark brown lager had a pleasant malty sweetness to the taste, with a very mild hoppiness, and drank down smoothly. In all, a well balanced lager that went well  with the pork loin.

The Haus is located in a elegant old building built in 1897 and is on the national registry of historic landmarks. Restored to much of its original architecture, there is a beautiful hand-carved Philippine mahogany bar, a mosaic tile floor, stained glass and a decorative ceiling that is a architectural treat to enjoy along with your brewpub meal. If you like old buildings with character, check out Elevator.
