Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Upland Brewing Co, Bloomington IN

Deja vu all over again! I'm sitting in the Heartland: Hoosier Country. For you folks who have not had the gastronomic equivalent of Nirvana, I introduce you to the Hoosier Pork Tenderloin. I'm in Upland Brewing Co. in Bloomington Indiana and have reconnected with my childhood past via this Hoosier Gastronomic Delight. 

Pork Tenderloin Sandwich

Upland's version of this Hoosier classic is homemade pork loin, thinly sliced and tenderized, breaded, and fried golden and crispy. Served on a toasted kaiser roll, topped with tomato, lettuce and red onion, and a side of fries, the sandwich brought back childhood memories of many a fine tenderloin sandwich.

Biting into the sandwich, there is the required crunch of the breaded crust, then the natural  juices of the pork are released along with the succulent pork loin. Chewing this melody of flavors and textures, I reverted to a happy 12 year old kid munching away at fast food family dining Hoosier style.



For my beer, I chose the Bourbon Barrel Warmer, a hefty 9 percent alcohol by volume drink more suitable for post prandial sipping than quaffing with a breaded tenderloin. 

However, undeterred, this thick frothy drink came across rich and velvety smooth to the taste. The barrel aging made a sweet bourbon flavor to the malt that added to the experience. I imagine that on a cold mid-west winter night, this winter warmer would feel right good in front of a fire.


Also, Upland serves honest 16 ounce pints and 20 ounce servings.
