Spinach Pizza, Marin Brewing Co, Larkspur, CA

Taking the ferry from San Francisco Embarcadero, I find myself at Marin Brewing in Larkspur. It's lunch time and the Spinach Pizza catches my eye and so I order the one person pan size serving.

Marin's pizza comes with its name sake spinach, along with mushrooms, onions and Ricotta and Mozzarella cheeses. And to take the pizza over the top, it  is absolutely covered with kalamata olives. This is good.

Spinach Pizza

The spinach pizza tastes as good as it looks. Crunchy to the bite, the smooth cheeses blend nicely with the salty olives giving the taste buds a ying-yang of the two flavors. The onions, mushrooms and spinach add pleasant background music to the luncheon endeavor. All of Marin's pizzas are baked in their Italian wood-burning pizza oven, making for a truly crunchy crust. You can order a small pizza for yourself, or their large pizza which feed two. Enjoy.

For my beer, I ordered the Hefe Weiss. This American style wheat ale drank down sweet and mild, a perfect accompaniment to the pizza. As with wheats, there was a slight bready flavor the taste which I liked. Marin's Hefe Weiss comes with an impressive pedigree of awards: it is a multiple gold medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival and a multiple silver winner at the World  Beer  Championships.

Marin Brewing is popular with the week day lunch crowd. But there was still plenty of seating to be found in the spacious indoor seating area. On pleasant Marin days, you can enjoy your meal at the picnic tables outside.

You can get to Marin Brewing from downtown San Francisco following the very efficient Beer By Bart directions. The relaxing return ferry ride offers the satiated brewpub traveler a magnificent view of the San Francisco sky line. Enjoy the ride.
