And here I am at Pyramid's Walnut Creek Alehouse at Happy Hour, hungrily looking at a plate of chicken and mashed potatoes.
Honey Cilantro Chicken |
Cutting into the chicken one gets all the juicy goodness of the chicken. You dip a morsel of the chicken in the absolutely delicious au jus, eat, and savor. Swirl the creamy mashed potatoes on a fork in the jus, eat, and you are in sublimity. What makes this plate work is the jus complementing the mashed potatoes and chicken. The cilantro lime sour cream also adds a nice bonus touch to the chicken.
For my beer, I chose the Crystal Wheat Ale, a Great American Beer Festival gold medal winner. Like most wheats, the gold colored Crystal Wheat drank down clean and crisp, with a slight citrus taste. Light and refreshing, this ale went well with the Honey Chicken. If you want a light body beer to drink with your meal, I'd suggest to try the wheat.
The happy hour crowd filled the brewpub quickly. Located downtown on a pedestrian friendly street, Pyramid Alehouse has the ambience of a friendly neighborhood pub. Drop by someday.
You can get to downtown Walnut Creek via BART. Easy directions can also be found by Beer By Bart.
