Muffuletta Sandwich, Morgantown Brewing, Morgantown, WV

Morgantown's Muffuletta is an Italian sandwich classic. It comes chock full with cappicola ham, salami, red peppers, provolone cheese and an olive tapenade served on a grilled Focaccia. It's a hefty sandwich that pleases the deli lover in me. I ordered onion rings as a side which is always pleasing.

First biting into the Muffuletta, the spicy salami and cappicola run riot on the taste buds. Then the puréed olive tapenade cuts into the spiciness of the meat along with the melted-and gooey-provolone to mellow out the sandwich. The grilled Foccacia provides a toasty experience to the Muffuletta endeavor along with the always appreciated onion rings. But be warned, this spicy and salty sandwich is for true lovers of cured deli meats. If you are part  of the avocado sandwich crowd, this sandwich is not for you.

For my brew, I chose the Alpha Blond Ale. The ale drank  down easy and smooth. With light body and little hoppiness, the blond proved to be a perfect beer to cut through the "whoo-hoo" of the Muffuletta.
