Coho Salmon Sandwich, Sockeye Grill and Brewery, Boise, ID

Boise is salmon country and, if you like salmon, you are in the right brewpub. I ordered the coho salmon sandwich. The plate comes with a generous filet of wild Alaskan salmon on a toasted bun, along with  red onions, tomato, lettuce and sliced pickles. Tartar sauce and fries come with the dish along with the always appreciated long cut pickle.
Coho Salmon Sandwich
This is a good looking sandwich: salmon pink with seared grilled marks make this pleasing to the eye as well as a promise to the stomach. Spritzing lemon juice over the salmon, I dig in. But instead of eating the salmon burger style, I choose to deconstruct the sandwich and dip bits of salmon directly into the tartar sauce and nibble. And nibble I did. With or without the tartar sauce, the morsels of salmon came across sweet and succulent, moist on the inside with that wonderfully unique taste that only salmon can deliver.

With a hefty serving of crunchy fries, the coho salmon sandwich proved to be a filling and rewarding brewpub dinner..

For my brew, I chose the Powerhouse Porter. This brown style porter drank down rich and creamy, with a pleasant malty sweetness to it. Not too sweet, though; there is just enough body to the brew to give the porter a nice finish. The Powerhouse is an eminently drinkable ale for dark beer lovers. Try it.
