Chicken and Cat Fish with Rice, Big Al Brewing, Seattle, WA

Normally I only go to brewpubs that serve good food along with their craft beers. Big Al Brewing serves great beer, but no food. However, with Big Al's, I made an exception. I had heard that there's some magnificent takeout just around the corner. And I'm glad I dropped by Big Al's. Why? Because of this.
Chicken and Cat Fish
Right around the corner from Big Al's is Hung Long Asian Market, an Asian grocery that serves delicious takeout that you can bring in to Big Al's and chow down to your heart's and stomach's content. Sitting at the bar at Big Al's with beer, fingers and plastic spoon ready, I dig in. The deep fried cat fish is smothered with a sweet teriyaki style sauce and is tasty, slurpy delicious. The Asian style fried chicken was crispy on the outside and succulently juicy on the inside. All served over steamed rice. This takeout is a deli delight.

For my beer, I chose the rewarding Smoked Porter. With a full body and creamy taste, the smoked porter was easy drinking and lived up to its name.

Big Al Brewing is one of the friendliest breweries I've visited. It is certainly worth a visit for their excellent beer, but also for the neighborly atmosphere of their taproom. If you find yourself in the Great Pacific Northwest, you gotta check out his place. It's unique.
