Sitting on the upstairs deck at Triple Rock Brewery on a very pleasant autumn Bay Day, I am reminded why I enjoy this part of the country: good people, lively conversation, craft beer, and always good food. In front of me is a provocative salmon sandwich. This mouth watering offering is fresh salmon marinated in all sorts of goodies: ginger, red chili, garlic, sesame oil, rice vinegar and tamari soy sauce. Grilled, and topped with tamari aioli on a ciabatta bun with a side of sesame cole slaw, a spear of pickle and a couple of hot peppers, TRB's salmon sandwich is a worthy lunch experience.

Biting into the toasty ciabatta, the crunch of the bun is followed by a juicy salmon experience. The grilled salmon is moist on the inside and seared perfectly on the outside, which rewards the palate with all its salmon goodness. The saucy aioli adds a unique and pleasant taste sensation to the sandwich. In all, TRB's salmon sandwich is a worthy endeavor for a lunchtime meal.
The hot peppers gave the sandwich a mouth puckering counterpoint. I usually pass on hot peppers when eating lunch, but this time the peppers proved to be a frisky complement to the more mellow salmon. Try the salmon the next time you find yourself in Berkeley
For my beer, I chose the Black Rock Porter. The porter drank down with a mild sweet taste to it. A little smoky and not at all heavy, the smooth porter was a pleasant sipping brew to enjoy on a pleasant sunny autumn day.
Triple Rock Brewery is located on pedestrian friendly Shattuck Avenue near UC Berkeley. Just down the street you can also find Jupiter Brewpub. Both brewpubs are easily accessed by BART. Easy directions are found on the Beer by Bart website.
