Reuben Sandwich, Pfriem Family Brewers, Hood River, OR

Located on the Columbia River front, Pfriem Family Brewers offer the brewpub grub visitor a good view, good brew and some good food-well worth a visit.

I ordered the tempting Reuben Sandwich. Pfriem's Reuben is house made corned beef, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, swiss cheese all enveloped in a thick crust of toasty grilled rye bread from Hood River's Pine Street Bakery. The plate comes with a side of fries and pickles.
Reuben Sandwich
Typical of Reuben sandwiches, Pfriem's gives the brewpub denizen  a rich and hefty offering. The house made corned beef is a delicious filling of tasty meat; tender, juicy, and eminently satisfying. The mild sauerkraut and creamy Russian dressing blend nicely with the flavorful corned beef, giving the bite a balanced taste. The gooey melted swiss cheese only makes this Reuben better. In all, a great sandwich for Reuben lovers.

Belgian Strong Blonde
For my brew, I chose the Belgian Strong Blonde.  Served in a tulip, the blonde is a pretty beer, golden in color and with a nice white head. Clean and effervescent, the blonde drank down smoothly. This is a refreshing beer, and goes well with the richer Reuben sandwich.

Pfriem's is an easy-going brewpub, typical of the vibe of Hood River and its wind-surfing culture. Check it out the next time you are in the area.
