Chili Brat,Old Bisbee Brewing Co., Bisbee, AZ

I'm sitting in a pleasantly shaded outdoor patio in Old Bisbee Brewing Co. Just 20 miles north of here, in Tombstone, that OK Corral town is known as the town to tough to die. Here, Bisbee prides itself as the town too high to care. You get the idea.

In front of me is a simple brewpub lunch: chili brat and brew.
Chili Brat

Old Bisbee's chili brat is a slurpy munching delight. Mounds of zesty-aka southwest- chili cover a good piece of brat. Look at the corn in the chili. Real tomatoes, black beans and bits of chewy beef make up the foundation of this chili. Throw in the requisite peppers, and this brat gives this Northwest patron a sharp, but pleasantly smoky Southwest experience.

Chowing down on a chili brat in the desert of Southern Arizona requires a liquid that can quit the thirst: For my choice, I elected to try OB's Copper City Ale. This ale drank down real easy. With a mild malt taste, the sweetness wasn't cloying, but clean and with good body. The hops were well balanced to make the brew smooth and thirst quenchingly drinkable.

The chili is made by Cafe Roka around the corner from Old Bisbee. Drop by for a more upscale meal while you are in town. It's a great way to eat your way through The town to high to care.
